A final note from the commissioner to end the 2012 season

First off I would like to say thanks to everybody who came out and participated in the West Side PGA Tour's inaugural season. If you played only one round or every round, you played a part in something we hope to make into a big thing in the coming years. Although we didn't have a set schedule this year and this whole thing just came about from a group of guys wanting to have some fun on the golf course, we put together a nice season.

The wheels have already begun for next season's tour. It will begin on April 1st, 2013. The first event of the year will be April 7th, 2013. We have had preliminary talks about starting the tour in Las Vegas, more info on that as it becomes available. the tour will run until Saturday August 31st, 2013. The 2nd annual West Side PGA Players Championship will be held that day at a location to be determined.

The talks have already begun to turn this thing into a non profit organization. We are looking for some sponsorships in addition to the one that we may already have that will contribute to some nice causes in our community. We have already decided to help out children from underprivileged communities and making some contributions to breast cancer research. We have already elected the President, CFO, and additional board members for the tour. More information about this will be posted after we finish all the necessary paperwork and gather additional information on how to run a non profit organization.

We have our sights set on playing 3 weekends a month, but if we get the organization up and running to it's full potential by then we may have to play every weekend to benefit our sponsors and charitable organizations to whom we will donate to. The board also has talked about participating in some walks that benefit breast cancer and also helping those kids who may not have the opportunity to learn the game of golf.

Once again, it was a great 1st year considering the way we threw it together I am privileged to have played with all of you on this tour. If this thing does get off the ground as we all hope it does, It will be my honor to know that some kids from the West Side got this started from nothing!

Sincerely, The Commish

The Players Championship & Year End Results

The West Side PGA tour came to it's inaugural seasons end today August 25th, 2012. The tour ended at The Arizona Grand Golf Resort. The West Side PGA Players championship was a tight race and the eventual winner Mike Tristan played great golf throughout the day to come out with a 67 and the win. In second place was a group of people including Alexis, Dylan, Chris, and Magoo who came in 2 strokes back with scores of 69. Carlo made his return to the tour and shot the third best score of the day, but due to the logjam in 2nd place he walked away with 6th place points. Charlie Hopkins the 2012 WSPGA Masters champion ended his day a disappointing dead last at his self-proclaimed "Home course"
The prize of the day!
The West Side PGA Tour also crowned it's inaugural overall points champion after this event. Chris Ortiz came out on top beating out Dylan by 5 points to take the coveted trophy home. Chris ended the season winning 7 tournaments including 2 Majors and he finished in the top 10 eleven times. Ortiz ended the year with 100 total points, which had most of the field playing for second out there today. Rounding out the top 3 players of the year was Dylan with a final score of 95 points. Carlo rounded out the top 3 with a respectable 74 points.
The end is finally here

Westside PGA Players Championship Info!! Updated Leaderboard and Handicaps!!

The final tournament of the West Side PGA's inaugural season is here! The West Side PGA Players Championship will be held at the Arizona Grand Golf Resort (Formerly The Phoenician). Judging by the pictures of this course, there should be more than a few triple digit scorecards out there! The Tee Times start at 10am So get there early and hit the free range balls that are provided with your green fees. Dress Code is strictly enforced, so NO DENIM OR T-SHIRTS!!! We will hold the trophy presentation after the round for not only the Tournament winner but also our overall champion. The leader board has been updated with new handicaps that will provide for a wild tournament where nobody is truly out of the mix! The 1st season of the tour was a success, we have something to build on for next summer and I look forward to expanding this tour and making it bigger and better next year!!

Sincerely, The Commish!

2012 WestSide PGA Tour Open Championship

The Westside PGA Tour Open Championship is here!! The site is Kokopelli Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona. It should be a nice day with the forecast predicted at 97 degrees. Handicaps have been updated and the cap will remain the same, after much though I decided that NOBODY should be able to win a major on this tour shooting over 105. The tour will be missing some of it's top players as they chose to take the weekend off to rest up for the final weeks on tour. 3 of the top 4 players are playing and are heavily favored to win the trophy. We have invited Berto along with us on this event because after all he has a chance to keep his trophy presentation streak alive! There is a dress code, but I know all the participants will be looking sharp out there as we do at all major events. It should be a great day of golf as everyone has a shot to win with the handicaps undoubtedly coming into play!

Results & Photos From Team Skins Weekend

Peoria Pines Golf Club was the home of our first ever team skins event. teams were determined by drawing names out of the hat and the teams were Chris & Mike, Charlie & Alexis, Mike Sr. & Nate, Rich& Don, Dylan & Berto. It was a very nice day for golf, we had a rainbow to start off the day and it was a very nice golf course to play. The skins were hard to come by with most of the holes pushing but in the end it was Rich & Don coming out ahead with 8 skins, Mike Sr. & Nate were right behind them with 6 skins. Chris & Mike grabbed 3 skins, Berto and Dylan got 1 Skin and the team of Charlie & Lex go the big donut winning no skins at all! The overall scores showed a different story, Mike Sr. & Nate had the lowest overall score of 66, Berto & Dylan came in with a 69 (that would be the score of any team berto is on). Lex & Charlie picked up 3rd with a 70, Rich & Don the skins leaders came in 4th with a 71 and rounding out the event scores were Mike & Chris with a 72. Up next is the Jesse Mireles Charity Classic At Palo Verde Golf Course the last event before the 2nd official major The Westside PGA Tour Open Championship!
