Next Stop...Vistal Golf Club! 5/20

Nestled at the base of South Mountain, Vistal Golf Club offers eighteen holes of championship golf along with amazing views of downtown Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun.  In 2000 the golf course was completely re-designed and built by PGA Tour Design Services in consultation with local PGA Tour players Tom Lehman, Billy Mayfair, and Howard Twitty. The course opened to rave reviews in November, 2001. Four sets of tee boxes let golfers choose to play yardage from 5235 to 7013.

This par-71 course features a variety of challenging holes that test your shot placement with well-placed bunkers. The course includes desert hazards, water features, and mountain-side elevations. Just as important as the course is the atmosphere, we believe having a good time is most important. Classic rock music is piped throughout the facility and the practice area to set the tone. The Blue Pig Patio is often full of guests enjoying an ice cold beer and a fresh grilled cheeseburger. At Vistal Golf Club, we hope you enjoy a great day of golf with friends in a beautiful setting at a great value!

The Masters!

Set beneath the dramatic backdrop of South Mountain, the largest municipal mountain park in the world, this Gary Panks designed course recently underwent a bunker renovation and is the new crowned jewel of Phoenix's municipal golf courses. This $6.5 million, 210-acre facility features an 18-Hole Championship Course and a 9-hole course. This links designed course offers a challenging layout and design and fairways and greens flanked by numerous bunkers. Transition areas feature native grasses and wildflowers of the Sonoran Desert. Aguila, surrounded by scenic mountain views and Phoenix's downtown skyline, welcomes all levels of golfers from beginners to expert (scratch) golfers.  The 18-Hole Championship Course features three lakes coming into play on five holes, with continuous cart paths and four sets of tees.

This is where we will separate the boys from the men on tour. The first Major of the season is a little over 4 weeks away. There are only two tournaments between now and then so practice will be the key to victory. I will post the hole by hole breakdown as we get closer to the date, as well as how we are doing the scoring to make it an even playing field for all. I will post the handicaps of all players a week before the Masters so we all know what we have to do to take the prestigious masters jacket home with them on this day!

Westside PGA Tour Rules & Regulations

Rule 1- Count all shots! Lost balls and drops included. Even count your bad shots (talking to you Magoo).

Rule 2- Only one mulligan per 18 holes! Available for use on any shot (Tee shot, Fairway, short game, & putts).

Rule 3- Talking in backswings is PERMITTED as long as it's funny! If not save it for in between shots!

Rule 4- Proper attire for the course we are playing! No halo shirts (Magoo this is for you again).

Rule 5- Point system is based on how many show up. If 6 people play then there will be 6 points awarded for the winner, if you show up you will at least get one point. We reward attendance on tour.

Rule 6- Be on time! We have Tee times on tour, do not miss them (this is for berto!).

Amendment 6.1 - At NO point EVER should Alexis and Magoo be in the same group! This is for the sake of all other players on tour.

Rule 7- No phone calls about Dim Sum at crucial moments, it is disruptive to ALL players (we all know who this is directed towards).

Rule 8- No throwing clubs. We are a professional tour, Save that stuff for the amateur tour (Carlo I'm looking at you).

Amendment 8.1 - Using clubs from other bags is PERMITTED. This is a time saver and is sometimes necessary due to lack of equipment on tour (This is the Jesse rule).

Rule 9- Leave your shirt on. We all know it's hot but we are not playing shirts and skins. Cutoffs are acceptable.(Chris pay attention to this one).

Rule 10- This is last, but it is the most important one. Trash Talk is a must! Be prepared to dish it and take it, the tour was founded on this and it will continue the tradition for the duration of the tour!

It's Official!!

The Westside PGA tour now has it's own website! I will update it later with the Tour schedule, leader board and match play tournament bracket. I will also be posting the complete scorecards from future rounds as well as pictures that we take while on tour. The inaugural season is in full effect with the masters coming up in a couple of weeks. I will post a complete breakdown of the course and who's favored to win it all!
